Apple Turn to Surfing

Apple Turn to Surfing

Apple have turned to surfing!... Sort of.

Their newest operating system, Mavericks, was announced yesterday and is named after a Northern California surfing hot spot. After running out of cat names to use, Apple has now started naming their operating systems after 'places in California that inspire' them. Maybe Tim Cook is a secret surfer? ;)

Mavericks is known for huge waves. They can regularly reach a height of over 25 feet and top out at 80 feet. This is due to an odd shaped rock formation under the water. In Winter, Mavericks is a destination for some of the worlds best big wave surfers. However, these waves are hazardous and caution is advised. An invitation only event is hosted every Winter, allowing big wave riders to surf up!

Starting in Autumn, all of their Mac computers will be loaded with Mavericks. We don't recommend taking your Mac surfing with you though..
