The Culture of Surf

The Culture of Surf

I don't know about you guys, but the modern surf scene can be a chaotic community. Diverse crowds, stupidly busy beach traffic all mount to an increasing urban environment.

I've recently been doing some digging around the internet and have came across an American artist by the name of Damian Fulton. I'm rather ashamed to admit that I've never heard of this artistic genius. (I'm sorry Damian!) His recent works about the California Surf Scene combines directly with the world I attempted to describe in my opening sentence. Having spent a tiny bit of time surfing and spectating at surfing events in Southern California, his observations encompass exactly how much mayhem there is there, not forgetting the intense atmosphere of the crowds, this is one place that lives, breathes, and sleeps surfing. Damian

Personally, I think it would be almost impossible for me to describe this community as well as Damian does, take a look for yourself;  take a second to relax and fully take in what each painting is offering us, close your eyes and travel back to your last surfing event. You'll see exactly what I mean.
